A relaunch….

Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about the direction of my business - and this new website is one of the fruits of this labour. A lot of people have helped with this rethink - from those of you who completed surveys and gave feedback, those who helped review this new site and those who gave me a prod to speed up when I needed it! Special mentions to Abi for the visual identity, Tony for the mentoring, Charles for business advice, the members of Team Mirepoix who took part in last years’ photoshoot and Nix for the photos of us all.

So here’s a little bit more about why and how I rebranded, what my training will focus on from now, and other news about what’s to come from me in the months ahead.

Why the rebrand

I’d been finding my feet here with a new business in France when the pandemic hit. It was a turbulent time and the services I offered responded to the changing situation. I felt lucky to be able to continue some training, but with the many restrictions it wasn't what I’d set out to offer. On top of that, I had put together the look and feel of my business long ago and my website was a relic from the past. So, this year, I wanted to revisit what I offer and how, to explain this more clearly, and have a visual identity that communicates who and how I can help. So I set about on a rebrand.

How my approach to training is evolving

The rebrand has helped me to focus on what’s important to me in training. Those of you who already train with me know the value I place on being in nature, being with others, having fun and getting stronger. All that is staying, and there are some additions. Here’s a quick summary of what I’ll put at the heart of my training…

  • Connecting - with ourselves, each other, our environment and with nature

  • Training physical capability so we’re empowered to say yes to more adventures

  • Moving to get strong and feel good, to build physical and mental resilience

  • Women-specific advice on movement - how we can move in line with our hormonal cycles, both the short and long-term changes we experience as women.

A new logo and tagline

As part of this rebrand I’ve thought a lot about what’s important to me when I run training to inform the look.

This new logo captures three things that are important to me about training

  • being outside in nature

  • connecting - with others, with ourselves, with nature

  • having fun.

We don’t necessarily tick all these boxes in each training session, but for me it’s the trifecta of joy when we do!

The ‘Train to Play’ tagline summarises one of the many benefits to moving better and being stronger that I am passionate about. When we are more physically capable we can say yes to more - whether it’s an everyday task to a more challenging adventure. Sometimes our training sessions can be a type of play in the moment, but they are always making us move better and get stronger. That enables us to do more and play more in our life outside training.

What else is new?

I spent time thinking through the approach I take when I train people and as a result set out more clearly

  • My promise to people who train with me - the experience you can expect to receive

  • The values I uphold in my approach to training people

A lot of this work has been in response to helpful feedback I had to surveys I shared earlier in the year, so thanks for taking the time to do this.

For those of you who don’t know me as well I’m also sharing some more information about me and my journey to becoming a personal trainer.

What else is coming in the future?

There’ll be more to come too, as this work is ongoing and I bring nature, fun, empowerment and community to the centre of what I offer. I’ll also share more content - on social media and through a newsletter. You can find links to my social media profiles and sign up to my newsletter in the footer below. If you already train with me, in a group or privately, you can request to be part of the private Facebook community. This approach I’ve set out feels right for now, and I expect it’ll evolve and change in the future too.

Thanks again to everyone involved in this process and I look forward to sharing the next step of this journey with you! Please share any thoughts with me, below or in-person - I’d love to know what you think of this - not exactly ‘all new’, but more focussed approach.
